Southern Cross inks $9M contract with Bayfield Hotel Group

This is the group’s third contract with family hoteliers Bayfield, which owns several hotel establishments across Sydney including the Newport Arms, the Newport Mirage, the Dee Why, the Presidential and Caringbah.Bayfield’s Presidential Hotel redevelopment was designed by Realize Architecture; by March 2009, Southern Cross will have reconstructed the hotel, a liquor warehouse and car park. The completed hotel is expected to include new bar facilities, a private function area, indoor children’s playground, family bistro, beer garden and landscaped gardens.Southern Cross’ other two Bayfield contracts have involved a $3 million redevelopment of Bayfield’s Caringbah hotel and a $260 million commercial and residential development at Dee Why Grand.Olympian Iain Murray, John David of David’s Holdings and the Bayfield group collaborated on devising the Dee Why Grand redevelopment, which is Southern Cross’ largest project to date, due to be completed in 2010.The finished Dee Why project is expected to include a new hotel, 161 residential apartments, a bottle shop, 6000 square metres of commercial space, 780 undercover car spaces and a dual-level Dee Why Grand Plaza, which will include major and specialty retailers.The $3 million Caringbah hotel redevelopment is nearing completion, with the finished project including a liquor store, warehouse, outdoor terrace and car park.
