South African engineer joins Thiess in east

Taylor was most recently managing director of South Africa’s Murray and Roberts Construction, the largest engineering and construction services firm in that country, which has a portfolio including projects such as the Gautrain Rapid Rail Development and Green Point Stadium Project. In June, Thiess and its joint venture partners completed the $2.6 billion EastLink project in Melbourne – one of the largest public-private partnerships ever carried out in Australia – five months ahead of schedule. Thiess said its work as part of the West Gate Freeway Alliance on the Monash-CityLink-West Gate Upgrade was similarly on track to improve traffic flow and safety on one of Victoria’s busiest routes. More recently, the company has been short-listed as part of world-class consortia for the $3.1 billion Victorian Desalination Project, the $1.1 billion Adelaide Desalination Project, and Melbourne’s train re-franchise. Last month, Thiess and finance partner ABM Amro were chosen to re-develop Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital. The biggest PPP ever in the history of New South Wales Health will also see the consortium maintain the facility for the next 28 years.
