Two 10-tonne capacity Hydrema 912Ds recently arrived here from Denmark and are on display at Sunset Equipment’s Brisbane yard.Sunset says it has already had some interest in a 912D from the road construction market. The machines have been designed to exert minimal ground pressure – very useful in applications such as golf course construction.According to the manufacturer, the 912D is the only dump truck on the world market with an unladen weight of 6.9t that can transport a 10t load. The 912D is powered by a Tier 3 Perkins diesel that makes 96 kilowatts. Hydrema says fuel efficiency is a big plus and claims the machine will use only 70 litres of fuel during a typical working day.The power goes through a six-speed ZF transmission with intelligent gear selection – if the transmission senses there is no load it will shift up two gears. The dump truck body is made of high tensile steel and is of all welded construction. The optional Multitip function allows unloading through a 180 degree arc – a valuable feature where access is limited. After using Multitip the body returns to the centred position automatically. Hydrema claims tipping time is only eight seconds. Sunset Equipment has plans to import the 912D’s big brother, the 922C. With a carrying capacity of 20t, the 922C will compete against the likes of the 16t JCB 718 and a host of ADTs in the 25t class. The 922C’s unladen weight of only 14t is a major selling point, and with 186kW of power it has an impressive power to weight ratio. One of two Hydrema 912Ds recently imported by Sunset Equipment.
