JHG managing director David Stewart said Sir John was an innovator whose vision, tenacity and spirit touched all of those around him.“Sir John is rightfully acknowledged as one of Australia’s most distinguished engineers,” Stewart said. “He served as chairman of John Holland Construction for 37 years between 1949 and 1986, overseeing many of Australia’s great engineering construction achievements.“Sir John was well known to many John Holland employees both during his tenure as owner of the company and throughout the years beyond. He maintained a keen personal interest in the operations of the organisation as it grew and developed into what it is today.“Sir John was extremely proud of everyone who played a part in building the John Holland community.”
