Relationships key to business success

The business, based in Moranbah, Queensland, is now in its 34th year of operation with a focus on digging pits for mining exploration at local coal mines.Radford said his interactions with the team at JCB Construction Equipment Australia’s Mackay branch were a primary example of a good business relationship.“We have an excellent relationship with the people there for our machines and for servicing,” Radford said. “We ring up and they look after us – and that is what we need.“We did have a problem with hydraulics at one stage and they were on to it and fixed it.”LMD Constructions operates a JCB 3CX backhoe, which has clocked up about 4500 hours, and recently invested in a JCB 3CX APC backhoe.Radford said the company plans to put the new JCB 3CX APC to work at the mines, while its existing 3CX machine will be deployed for minor works.JCB Construction Equipment Australia Mackay branch manager Wes Henshall said the JCB 3CX APC was the only backhoe on the market with a hydraulic powerslide and six-speed transmission with lock-up torque converter. The APC machine also comprised a longer lift arm compared to its predecessors.Henshall said the APC machine also offered easier transition between operating modes for increased productivity, and increased hydraulic performance. Meanwhile, an increase in hydraulic pressure delivers 10% extra lifting capacity and breakout force to both the loader and backhoe, giving faster digging cycles under harsh digging conditions, according to Henshall.
