The consortium, called AdelaideAqua, also includes Spanish firm Acciona Agua. On completion of the selection process, the consortium will design, build, operate and maintain the plant for 20 years for South Australia Water.McConnell Dowell said that when completed, the Adelaide Desalination Project will deliver up to 50 billion litres of water each year, approximately a quarter of Adelaide’s water supply. The first water is expected to be delivered from the plant in December 2010.McConnell Dowell last month was awarded the desalination transfer pipeline in joint venture with its Adelaide company, Built Environs. The pipeline will link Adelaide’s desalination plant to its existing water supply.
