Nominations open for 2025 WIRA Awards

WIRA

Nominations are now open for the 2025 Waste Innovation and Recycling Awards (WIRA), which recognise excellence across Australia’s waste, recycling and resource recovery sectors.

Following a highly successful 2024 event, this year’s awards are expected to draw even greater interest as the industry continues its momentum in building infrastructure and innovation to meet federal and state recycling and diversion targets.

The 2025 awards will be held in Melbourne on 29 October, alongside Waste Expo Australia. The venue will be announced shortly.

Key industry players REMONDIS, Visy and Re-Group have already committed as sponsors, with more organisations expected to lend their support in the lead-up to the event.

The awards program celebrates outstanding work across a wide range of categories, including Outstanding WARR Project (Metro), Outstanding WARR Project (Regional/Rural), Operational Excellence, Innovation, Outstanding Facility, Young Professional, Woman of Waste, Community Engagement, WIAR Workplace of the Year, and Leader of the Year.

“The 2024 awards night was a highlight of our events calendar,” said Molly Hancock, head of events marketing for Prime Creative Events. “It is a very competitive industry, which was evidenced by the quality and number of nominations we received. It is not only a great event to highlight some of the inspiring ideas, people and innovations happening within the industry, but also an ideal opportunity to network with peers and friends.”

With the waste and recycling sector playing an increasingly important role in achieving Australia’s circular economy goals, WIRA offers a platform to showcase the individuals, teams and businesses making a real difference.

Nominations are now open and can be submitted online here.
