The company said its £40 million ($A82 million) Heavy Products plant covers 41,000 square metres and is now in full production. Located on the outskirts of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, the plant is split into two main parts – an assembly area and a large fabrication area. It is manned by 48 teams manufacturing a range of 25 tracked and wheeled excavators ranging in size from 7 tonnes to 46t.”Without doubt, this factory is one of the most modern excavator manufacturing plants in the world and I’m extremely proud of the facility we have here,” JCB Heavy Products managing director John Gill said.JCB said part of the investment has been in new machining centres which put JCB in direct control of component quality, as well as new paint booths.
