In a release to the market, the company said it was in the final stages of negotiating the deal, and would be able to provide more details when the market opens tomorrow. The contract will be welcome for Macmahon, given that just over a week ago the contractor was affected by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance’s decision to cut around 400 contractor jobs from two open cut mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.The contractors were employed through Macmahon and HMP Constructions to do pre-stripping work at BMA’s Goonyella Riverside and Norwich Park mines.
