The value of the contract managed by Bovis Lend Lease will be approximately $1.4 billion out of a total project cost of $1.55 billion.Work on the nine-level, 750-bed hospital will begin this month, with completion scheduled for the end of 2012. Bovis Lend Lease said it had also been involved in building consultancy services for the project since 2007. The hospital will be constructed adjacent to the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. Bovis Lend Lease said the project would see it work closely with the Major Hospitals Project Office, Queensland Health staff, the hospital’s design team and other key stakeholders, to create an innovative environment for health care, medical research and the training of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.The company said that with this contract, it has secured $2.7 billion worth of work in the health sector in the past year. Bovis Lend Lease is also currently undertaking the project management, design and construction of the $1 billion new Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, one of the largest hospital developments in Australia. The company is also the managing contractor for the major redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital in Sydney.In Queensland, Bovis Lend Lease is also currently managing contractor for the development of the new Brisbane Supreme Court and District Court Precinct in a contract valued at $475 million and undertaking the upgrade of Brisbane Airport’s international terminal.
