The construction giant said the first pieces to be made at the new facility will be concrete girders and planks for the Ballina section of works under the RTA’s Pacific Highway Upgrade program.The factory, which has 12 permanent employees and an additional production workforce from the local area, was in the construction phase for six months.“With production now underway, Leighton Contractors and the Coffs Harbour Precast Facility are ideally placed to contribute to the local economy and help meet the strong demand from infrastructure developments in the Sydney-Brisbane corridor expected over the next decade,” Leighton Contractors general manager for NSW and the ACT Mike Metcalfe said. Leighton’s Precast Facility is located at the Isles Industrial Estate near Coffs Harbour.
