An Australian company has won the backing of the CEFC to tackle the traditional limitations of plastics recycling, allowing plastics to be recycled infinitely using an enzyme that accelerates the bacterial breakdown of plastic. The CEFC, through its Clean Energy Innovation Fund, is investing $1.1 million in Samsara Eco (Samsara).

APCO happy about $60 million boost for recycling
The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), ALDI, Coles, Woolworths, The Arnott’s Group and Unilever welcome the announcement from the Federal Government of $60 million in additional funding to boost the Recycling Modernisation Fund (RMF) and support and accelerate the uptake of recycled content in plastic packaging and products. The new investment takes the RMF to $250m, building on the $190m announced last year, which is driving a $1 billion transformation of the waste and recycling sector.
