Visy has committed to increasing the average recycled content glass content used by its glass manufacturing plants from 30 to 70 per cent. This will keep more glass in the circular economy, reducing landfills and generating environmentally sustainable re-manufacturing jobs.
According to Visy executive chairman, Anthony Pratt, the $70M investment’s scope will include the complete rebuild of Visy’s West Croydon-based glass furnace and three new glass forming machines, used to shape glass bottles for the company’s customers.
This will ensure the future capability for Visy to manufacture glass bottles in the South Australian region for years to come.
Visy’s glass facility in West Croydon employs approximately 160 people in well-paying, green collar manufacturing jobs. The company’s $70M manufacturing investment will secure these jobs in the long term.
