EPA Victoria is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, 3 February to provide information on how changes to the state’s environmental laws will affect industry and the community.
Victoria’s new environment protection legislation is intended to commence on 1 July this year. This is the most significant reform to Victoria’s environment protection laws in the 50 years of EPA’s existence.
Given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made last year to postpone the commencement of the new environment protection legislation by one year. In December 2020, the Victorian Government released the proposed final versions of the regulations and the environment reference standard.
Attendees are encouraged to have questions prepared for EPA staff to answer. To register click here.
On Tuesday 23 February, the EPA will also host a Waste Tracker webinar to help industry learn about tracking of reportable priority waste under the new laws.
The webinar will provide an introduction to the new Waste Tracker, scheduled for implementation when the new laws commence.
As part of this introduction, attendees will hear about the key aspects of new laws relating to waste tracking, see a preview of the system and its functions, and learn about key dates and activities to prepare businesses for onboarding into the new system.
