The Governing Board of Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has bought in Lee Miezis as the Authority’s interim CEO on February 8. He replaces Dr Cathy Wilkinson who left the role in late 2020.
Miezis is the current and inaugural CEO of Bushfire Recovery Victoria, with extensive experience in policy, operations, service delivery and regulation.
As a former Deputy Secretary at the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), Miezis has hands on experience across the energy, waste, environment and climate change, water and catchments sectors.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Forest Science (with Honours), a Master of Business Administration and is a Victorian Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.
In a statement, the EPA Governing Board said it was confident Miezis’ experience and leadership brings invaluable assistance to an executive team striving to deliver the biggest transformation in EPA’s history while meeting the day-to-day challenges of enforcing environment protection regulation across Victoria.
The Board said that recruitment for an ongoing CEO is underway.
