The manufacturer said that from January 2009, it would use the carbon offset provider Greenfleet to offer a free 12-month carbon offset sponsorship for customers who purchase a skid steer loader, multi-terrain loader and/or mini excavator.Established in 2001, Greenfleet is a not-for-profit environmental organisation that seeks to offset the harmful emissions created by individuals and various organisations.Caterpillar said Greenfleet would plant a range of native tree species to help regenerate environments on both public and private land – particularly in areas of high environmental concern. The program will run as an introductory offer for the first 12 months of machine ownership. After the completion of the first year, customers can choose to continue to offset their emissions through Greenfleet at their own cost. Caterpillar said interested customers should enquire at their local Caterpillar dealer for further information.
