GRD’s coal subsidiary, Coal Group, will undertake the work with support from international engineering and construction services provider Roberts and Schaefer, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chicago-based bulk materials handling specialist Elgin National Industries, as part of a cooperation agreement between the companies.The contract is for the materials handling areas of the $A400 million coal mine near Mudgee.The scope of work to be undertaken by GRD Minproc and Roberts and Schaefer is for detailed design covering raw coal stockpiling and reclaim, product handling and loading, and services infrastructure.“The Moolarben contract provides an excellent foundation on which to grow our cooperation agreement with Roberts and Schaefer and we have identified global opportunities that will capitalise on the skill sets of our companies,” GRD chief executive officer Cliff Lawrenson said. First shipments from 10 million tonne per annum Moolarben mine, incorporating both opencut and longwall mining, is expected by March 2010.
