Fluor secures $3.5B GLNG contract

The contract comes after the company was appointed as preferred EPC contractor in May last year. Fluor was awarded the upstream front end engineering design contract in 2009.Fluor said it booked $3.5 billion in the 2010 fourth quarter for this new contract, adding that it had been working closely with Santos to ensure maximum opportunities for Australian industry as the project progresses. “Fluor looks forward to continuing its close relationship with Santos, the GLNG partners and the state of Queensland in assisting them to become a leading supplier of LNG to key economies in Asia,” Fluor Energy and Chemicals group president Peter Oosterveer said. “Fluor shares Santos’ and the partners’ commitment to build this landmark clean energy project with the highest performance in safety and project execution, while maintaining world class environmental standards and close engagement with the local communities.”Santos approved the $US16 billion two-train, 7.8 million tonnes per annum GLNG project earlier this month. First LNG exports from the project are expected to start in 2015.
