The work is being done by Bovis Lend Lease, which has designed the project and will carry out the management and construction associated with the expansion. The company said its expertise in structuring and undertaking projects while ensuring existing centres remain operational would be showcased at Caroline Springs Square, which will remain open for business for the duration of the project.The existing 6800 square metre single-level centre comprises around 20 specialty stores anchored by a Coles supermarket. It is set to almost triple in size, reaching approximately 65 stores and growing to approximately 19,000sq.m.Planned in response to community needs, the expansion will include the introduction of retail stores Target, 1st Choice Liquor Superstore, ALDI and over 40 speciality stores.Works are scheduled for completion in spring 2009.Bovis Lend Lease said the construction works would generate more than 600 jobs. The company said it would maintain its strong focus on safety, with twilight tours of the project planned for local residents in order to communicate important safety information that will apply for users of the shopping centre during the construction process.
