CCFWA welcomes back Morris

Most recently general manager with trenchless technology contractor Vortex Pipes, Morris was previously CCFWA executive director from 1993 to 2006.Morris said his experience at Vortex, and as business improvement manager at Underground Services Australia before that, had given him renewed insight into the day-to-day challenges faced by CCF members. He rejoins CCFWA at a testing time for the state’s civil contractors, with a number of construction projects being deferred or delayed.“Work has gone pretty quiet,” Morris said. “Mainly in the land development area – that’s where the biggest effect is being felt.”Like other CCF branches, CCFWA runs a registered training organisation, CivilTrain. Morris said the downturn had provided an opportunity for the industry to continue to work on developing its skills base for the future.
