The ABC reported yesterday that funding to major transport infrastructure projects may be cut after Communications Minister Stephen Conroy admitted in a Senate Estimate’s hearing yesterday there may less money available than initially planned, and would depend on budgetary circumstances. Senator Conroy said the lesser figure is due to revisions in budget surpluses. Some of the previously announced projects include completion of Sydney’s West Metro ($8 billion), capacity increases on the North Strathfield to Hornsby railway ($1.8 billion) and the widening of the M5 motorway in New South Wales ($3 billion).
