Building maintenance in the recession

The company said the seminar would cover the risks associated with deferring building maintenance. It also said that during economic downturns, building managers are more stringent than ever in “racking and stacking operating budget items”, and that costs associated with maintaining buildings and real estate are no exception. The online seminar will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2pm US eastern time. It will be hosted by the US Association of Facilities Engineering and the Ingersoll Rand subsidiary Trane. Ingersoll Rand also said the management of risks associated with deferring building maintenance requires a good understanding of the building’s current health and state, understanding stakeholder requirements, and analysing the risks in order to make educated service decisions.Louis Ronsivalli, service offer development leader for Trane, with a specialty in energy and facilities management, will host the 45-minute seminar. During the session, participants will learn how to conduct a deferred maintenance risk analysis on building, analyse where to take risks and where to avoid them, and understand how to avoid deferring maintenance through cost-sharing techniques.Interested parties can register for the seminar by visiting www.afe.org/education/webinars
