Buffalo Mixers International has been formed by Sydney company Buffalo Mixers Australia and Perth-based Western Equipment Group. BMI is currently setting up a dealer network in other states.Buffalo Mixers Australia managing director Brad Huckle has long experience in the concrete industry and created the Buffalo brand of concrete plants and transit mixers. The transit mixers are available in four standard sizes ranging from 2.6 cubic metres to 10cu.m, although larger sizes are built on request.Buffalo is proud of the technology and innovation that go into building the mixers, which the company says are designed for fast and efficient concrete mixing and discharge while producing uniform mixes whether on high or low slump mix.The mixers can be specified with diesel or electric drive. High-tensile, anti-abrasive SS400 steel is used for the barrel and blades, keeping wear and tear at a minimum. Buffalo says the spiral configuration on the hot-rolled mixing blades ensures a homogenous mix, while the unique finless blade design also helps a smooth mix and minimises residue build-up compared to conventional blades. A protective layer is welded on the blade ends to reduce wear. The trunnion ring is an innovative design, being cut from a single piece of 65mm plate steel and then machined and press fitted to the barrel. Buffalo says this design eliminates the cracking associated with its competitors’ multi-welded, flat bar-type trunnion rings. The company also claims the trunnion roller bearings are larger and sturdier than those used on other mixers on the market. The 8mm-thick dish end is beefed up with an additional conical shaped 8mm plate that faces inwards. The mixers use a locally developed PLC remote control system that has no mechanical parts. Top-quality components are specified including BHP Steel, Sauer Danfoss and Bosch pumps and motors, and ZF gearboxes. Buffalo also supplies fixed, mobile and portable concrete plants in a wide range of sizes with both dry and wet mix systems. A self-contained, semi trailer-mounted plant is available that produces 85cu.m per hour.
