Bassett engineer becomes WA’s youngest Fellow

Kriston Symons, a group leader at Melbourne engineering firm Bassett, was chosen for his leadership and contribution to the engineering profession. Bassett is a specialist in mechanical and electrical engineering and associated niche disciplines and is part of the global AECOM group. “As a profession, engineers have highly specialised skills and we have a duty to help the community understand engineering practices and principles,” Symons said. “This is particularly important in areas such as sustainability and climate change, and I am very honoured that my work in these fields, as well as the training of new members of our profession, has been recognised.” Symons joins about 500 other Western Australian Fellows, who have all been recognised for their work advancing the design or execution of significant engineering work or for making a major contribution to the science or practice of engineering. The Fellow joined Bassett more than 10 years ago, and is a chartered professional engineer and accredited professional of the Green Building Council of Australia. He now works in Bassett’s Perth office.
