Basalt completes acquisition of JR Richards & Sons

Basalt Infrastructure Partners LLP has has announced the completion of its acquisition of JR Richards & Sons a regional waste management operator in New South Wales, headquartered in Tuncurry.

The acquisition marks Basalt’s entry into the Australian waste and resource recovery sector. Established in 1958, the company has grown from a locally focused operation into a provider of waste collection, recycling and processing services across New South Wales.

Over more than six decades, JR Richards has expanded its footprint to service municipal, commercial and industrial customers, partnering with more than 20 local councils and operating an extensive network of depots, transfer stations and processing facilities across regional NSW. The business has maintained a family involvement in its management and operations.

JR Richards delivers a suite of integrated waste management services, including kerbside collection, recycling, organics processing and resource recovery, with a focus on diverting material from landfill and improving environmental outcomes for the communities it serves.

The transaction was previously announced in November 2025 and has now reached completion following the satisfaction of customary conditions.
