Astec unveils latest four track trencher

On a recent visit to Australia, Astec training manager Bob Wren took the opportunity to reveal the RT1160 Four Track trencher, which has been exhaustively tested in soft soil, sand and wet surface conditions, Astec said. The four track trencher was modelled on the RT1160 wheeled version, but was devised for trenching in wet conditions, the company said.According to Astec, the trencher is ideal for sugar cane plantations, irrigated areas and other challenging ground conditions.“The heavy-duty trencher attachment has been the key to our success for many years,” Wren said.“The planetary trencher drive features a flywheel, torsion shaft that serves as a spring to absorb shock loads from the trencher driveline, and planetary gear set for smooth operation and long life.“The flywheel helps keep the chain line from stalling in tough soil conditions and minimises pressure spikes in the hydrostatic system.”Semco is the Australian distributor of the Astec compact model range.
