In an email to the media yesterday, event director Paul Mathers said the expo has had just two cancellations – the Caterpillar dealer for Victorian and Tasmania, William Adams, and CJD Equipment. “The former is old news, having cancelled back in November 2008,” Mathers said. “This should come as no surprise as CAT’s issues internationally have been well-publicised. CJD cancelled in late December.” “I know there are other shows that sit in this universe of construction equipment that aren’t doing so well at the moment, and whether people are adding two and two together and getting 78, I’m not sure,” Mathers told CIN.“But we’re certainly very healthy at ACE, and with any little glitch that comes, I’ve got companies waiting to come into the fold,” he said. “We’re hardly struggling. We’ve increased the size of it by about 15% on the 2007 show.” Mathers told CIN the number of exhibitors registered for ACE is currently around 150. ACE 2009 will take place at Sandown Racecourse in Melbourne on February 26-28, and is organised by Exhibitions and Trade Fairs in association with the Victorian branch of the Construction Mining and Equipment Industry Group.
