Abigroup snares another major water contract

Abigroup said the work include the upgrade 12 existing sewerage treatment plants and a pipeline project in the Newcastle region. The endorsement of Abigroup comes after the company was chosen as one of the preferred bidders for Adelaide’s new $1.37-billion, 50-gigalitre desalination plant to be built at Port Stanvac, 15km south of Adelaide. “We are looking forward to further demonstrating Abigroup’s water experience in the Hunter,” said Abigroup’s managing director David Jurd. “Abigroup has extensive expertise in undertaking major water projects in Australia and has delivered over $1 billion in water infrastructure in the past two years,” Jurd said. The scope of works for the Hunter program includes the design, construction and commissioning of the plants and pipeline, as well as operator training. It is anticipated that work will begin in April 2009.
