The company will relocate to a 650 square metre headquarters at 52 Walker Street once refurbishments are complete.Abigroup’s North Queensland manager Gary Inness said the company had outgrown its Garbutt facility on the outskirts of Townsville.“Abigroup first established a presence in Townsville in 1994 and since that time we are proud to have played a hand in the city’s enormous growth,” Inness said. “After a hectic few years, we felt that the time was right to open a large and sophisticated CBD headquarters that would provide us with the space and facilities to take on a range of upcoming projects.“Our significant investment into this facility also signals our long-term commitment to the city of Townsville and the surrounding region.”Abigroup has completed in excess of 90 projects in the Townsville region since 1994, including its work on the Townsville Port Access Road, James Cook University Medical School, Water Matters Alliance and Magnetic Island’s Blue on Blue Resort.Earlier this month, the company was named preferred contractor for the construction component of the $110 million duplication of the Douglas Arterial Road in a joint venture with Seymour Whyte.
