UNTHA’s vuvuzela solution Tuesday, 6 July 2010
The World Cup is the biggest event of 2010, and even those hard pressed to name more than a handful of players would surely be aware of the deafening horns providing the controversial soundtrack for the South African event. In a slick piece of opportunistic marketing, UNTHA shredding technology has made a YouTube video showing off its “remedy for the monotonously resounding vuvuzela”. “Resembling a swarm of hornets, [the vuvuzelas] haunt us on the screens. Any attempts to prohibit the nerve-wracking hullabaloo by the plastic horns failed,” stated UNTHA, before adding that being an “innovative and solution-oriented company,” it has found a perfect way to address the problem.
“It soon became obvious that there is only one solution for getting rid of the sounding hum: the destruction in shredders. In a jiffy, the colourful wind instruments disappear in the patented 4-shaft shredder and fall silent with one last meek ‘vuuu-vu’. Problem solved.”
Its YouTube video has been watched about 1,300 times, with the company promoting itself as providing “shredding solutions for problematic materials”.
Hat’s off to the UNTHA team, who deserve kudos for quick thinking with a smart marketing campaign, and also for proving Austrians do have a sense of humor!
